Kazakhstan Study: Comparison of JinChan, YX500 and NaCN

A 2025 study compares JinChan, YX500 and NaCN on pretreated gold-sulphide polymetallic feed material from Kazakhstan.

A study by V. Malyshev et al. on the processing of gold-sulphide polymetallic feed material from Kazakhstan and comparison of reagents at the leaching stage has been published in Minerals.

How the experiment was designed

The initial feed material first underwent flotation concentration. The resulting concentrate was then subjected to oxidative roasting. Only after this pretreatment did the authors conduct comparative leaching using JinChan, YX500 and sodium cyanide (NaCN).

Under the investigated conditions, the three reagents demonstrated approximately comparable gold recovery. The value of about 86.5% relates to the pretreated concentrate, not to untreated Kazakhstan ore.

The result does not mean that JinChan is universally better than NaCN and cannot serve as a ready recommendation for another mineral feed material. The comparison reflects the specific conditions of the published experiment.

Why preliminary verification matters

The paper highlights the influence of ore composition, flotation and oxidative pretreatment on subsequent leaching. For a practical project, sample preparation, reagent dosage, pH, process duration and control parameters need to be determined separately.

The approach to such verification is described in the ore testing section. Additional context is available in the articles comparing JinChan and sodium cyanide and on arsenic, arsenopyrite and gold-bearing ore.
